TWI Institute Certified Trainer Programs
The TWI Institute offers
a 40-hour Train-the-Trainer (TT) session for each TWI program of
Job Relations (JR), Job Safety (JS), Job Instruction (JI) and Job
Methods (JM) and Problem Solving.
Pre-requisites to become a TWI Certified Trainer
Candidates for the TT programs are required to have experience with
supervising and/or coordinating the work of others. Certified trainer
candidates for Job Instruction and Job Methods must also have a
good understanding of current day production systems and experience
implementing the tools of TPS/Lean in the workplace.
Candidates for all programs must have satisfactorily completed
the appropriate training program of JI, JR, JM, JS and or PS to
attend the 40-hour train-the-trainer.
Candidates for Problem Solving must also have been trained in
and have experience in delivering, one or more of the J programs.
Finally, before entering training each candidate must sign a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to: maintain TWI Institute delivery
standards; allow TWI Institute to monitor TWI training activities
if requested; refrain from offering TWI training beyond their own
company; and refrain from offering Train the Trainer classes.
Overview of TWI Institute Train-the-Trainer Programs (TT)
Each TT program is 40 hours over five consecutive days. Participants
are required to attend and to participate in all sessions. The TWI
Institute format is a “learn-by-doing” and coaching
experience. New trainer candidates are expected to make the effort
and demonstrate the ability to deliver the 10-hour program in accordance
with the Training Delivery Manual.
Class size is limited to 6 people to provide each participant
sufficient practice time to deliver the JI, JR, JS or JM program
as scripted in the applicable Training Delivery Manual. A TWI Institute
Program Delivery Manual and materials kit are sent to each person
in advance of the training for each participant to become familiar
with the materials before class.
TWI Institute: TT Certificates, Evaluation and Follow-up
A certificate will be issued to those who satisfactorily complete
a 40-hour Train the Trainer program having displayed a clear understanding
of the Training Delivery Manual and all training materials and demonstrated
to the TWI Institute Master Trainer the ability to use these materials
to successfully deliver the program as trained. Each trainer will
be given a written evaluation outlining strengths and weaknesses
that are to be overcome with practice. Each new trainer is encouraged
to contact the TWI Institute Master Trainer the week after a first
delivery to review progress in overcoming weaknesses outlined in
the written evaluation.
